‘Siora Veronica’ Historic Sailing Ship
Malcesine has its own special historic charm, where you can soak up the magical atmosphere of days gone by.
You can take part in organised events offering a chance to learn about the fascinating stories of the past.
One such story is of the fleet of boats that used to fill the harbour.
These boats, used as a means of transport rather than for pleasure, were gradually replaced and abandoned as more roads were built around the 1930s.
But in the early 2000s, restoration work breathed new life into one of them.
Today, the ship is one of most popular sights in the port of Malcesine.An elegant two-masted vessel which spends its days sailing across the crystal-clear waters of the lake, powered only by the breeze. Nearly 100 years after its construction, the splendour and charm of the yacht are still on display to all visitors onboard.
Cruises are organised from May onwards, as well as themed tours, musical concerts and private events which you can take part in, soaking up the special feeling of sailing across Lake Garda.
From June to September every year musicians and bands perform on the ship in the dock.
A programme of unmissable concerts, from jazz to opera, which you can enjoy in the port where the ship is moored (the musicians perform aboard the board; the audience remain on the shore). Some key concert dates for summer 2024:
