The Fjord – Malcesine and Brenzone ancient roasd- Half day

Discover the ancient paths of Malcesine, built on terraces among olive trees and dry walls. Stunning views of Lake Garda and a unique riding experience.

The tour will take place on the lowest part of Monte Baldo, on the territory of two different municipalities: Malcesine and Brenzone.

What makes this place so special for E-Mtb riding is the network of paved mule tracks, which were used since ancient times to move goods and as communication routes. In fact, the current Gardesana coast road, built from 1920 onwards, did not exist, and most of the ‘traffic’ of goods and people took place along the hillside where olive groves were the most important economic activity in the area. These mule tracks are extraordinary works, hand built boulder by boulder with great skill, on difficult, rocky terrain, but thanks to this they have come down to our times substantially intact despite decades of neglect. In some places, riding along them by MTB, thinking that they were once used as normal roads, makes one reflect on the hard work of the inhabitants of this area before tourism era.

Starting from the most convenient point according to your accommodation, we will then ride along these paths along the lake to admire the best views of northern Lake Garda, which we in Allmost call ‘the Fjord’ due to its long, narrow shape surrounded by high, steep mountains.

Malcesine is one of the most beautiful medieval towns of Italy, placed into the Lake, surrounded by vertical mountains, with its Castle emerging from the waters. In the most clear days we will admire the Brenta Dolomites right behind the Castle.

Brenzone is a very special territory, with 16 little villages connected one each other by alleys and mule tracks running through olive trees terraces. We will cross Biaza, Campo (the Ghost village), Castello, Sommavilla, each one with its own character and an always stunning view on the Lake.

The way back to our starting point will be on the new “promenade”, 15km along the shore riding through all the little fishermen’s harbours: Cassone, Assenza, Porto, Magugnano, Castelletto.

SPECIAL SUGGESTION The cycle path is a safe way to return, and so it’s possible to organize this Tour also in the late afternoon, to enjoy the Sunset in Malcesine, watch the “enrosadira” (the moment when Dolomites become pink at sunset) and then ride along the shore in the special atmosphere before the darkness.
