Malcesine is not all about summer, hot weather and lake. Malcesine can be charming all year round, even during the winter!
Even if tourist activities are considerably reduced during colder months, the opportunities to have fun are many, especially if you like sport and nature.
A quiet atmosphere and a milder climate are perfect for practising many outdoor activities such as: cycling, trekking or climbing. You just need a heavier jacket and you have an infinite choice of paths twisting and turning from Mount Baldo (2000 m of altitude) to the lake.
Needless to say, the colours of the wood make the landscape suggestive both in spring and autumn.
When Mount Baldo turns white, you can take the panoramic cable car (opened 10 months a year) to reach the ski slopes, enjoying some walks wearing snowshoes or practice some ski mountaneering; and don't forget, everything will come with a nice view, something few other places can offer!
You can find four ski slopes with different variations on Mount Baldo.
You can ski on medium difficulty ski slopes, as Colma and Pozza, or on the steep slope of Prà Alpesina.
There's an easy slope for beginners called Paperino. The slope is always sunlit and even those who are not skiing can relax, take a walk, get a tan or try some local food with friends.
There are also a ski school and some rental shops where you can hire skis, snowboards, sleds and snowshoes.
Apart from the snow, during the warmer winter hours, you can climb the sunniest cliffs but also walk or ride your mtb along one of the many paths in low altitudes where snow has been cleared off.
Fearless windsurfers or kitesurfers defy the wind and the lake with the appropriate equipment even during the winter. What more can we say?
Come here and discover a new Malcesine, more relaxing and quiter than in the summer, but equally charming!
